LADY R / BY SOFIA MAVRAGANI
Inspired by the last known piece of writing by Rosa Luxemburg, which was written just after the Spartacus uprising was crushed by the German government and in the hours prior to the arrest and murder of her and Karl Liebknecht by the Friekorps. Lady R takes place in the context of the public art project Monument to Revolution by Sanja Iveković.
In the frame of Documenta 14.
The re-enactment of Rosa Luxemburg’s words by a contemporary women on the monument/memorial to “Red Rosa” deals with questions such as: How the words of the past sound today? How can they be delivered? What kind of discourse do they provoke?
